Finding the cheapest deal when it comes to petrol and diesel has never been so important as we battle through the cost of living crisis. If you rely on your car then squeezing value out of every visit to the garage is crucial.
Prices have shot up following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but then dropped slightly last month following the spring budget by Rishi Sunak. In the mini-statement, he announced a 5p cut in fuel duty.
The jury is out as to whether that cut did filter through to the forecourts. But whether it has or not, all motorists can agree that fuel prices are either stabilizing or even falling slightly.

According to the latest data, the big names are still the cheapest places to fill up. In the West Midlands, supermarkets and the major petrol retailers currently have the lowest prices.
The only exception is in Birmingham where Costco remains day after day the cheapest place by far. But there’s a catch: to get its cheap petrol and diesel you have to be a Costco member.

Using data from Petrolprices.com, we’ve found some of the cheapest places to fill up. We’ve found the best deals for both petrol and diesel in Birmingham, the Black Country, Worcestershire and Solihull.
Petrol prices may vary depending on supply and demand. These prices were correct at the time of writing (Tuesday, April 19) but can change quickly as gas prices continue to increase.
