Call for volunteers to take places on Burford Parish Council

The TENBURY Community Pool Trustees want people to apply to fill positions on Burford Parish Council

No volunteers are currently required to serve on the seven Burford councilors.

These are very important tasks for any local resident interested in the local community, especially if the new builds currently planned for Burford and Tenbury have been the largest of their kind in many years, say the trustees of the recently upgraded swimming pool and gym.

Since the Tenbury Community Pool has members from a large rural catchment area covered by three county councils, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, the trustees say it is very important to follow future local building plans that affect the area, be it at school, at the dentist, the library, the doctor or the swimming pool and leisure center.

The trustees say the swimming pool and leisure center is big enough for the current population.

A ward council attends meetings at the meetinghouse every six weeks, often with a report from the local police, Shropshire local council, Richard Huffer, ward members, councilors, and the ward clerk and chairman.

Local councils review building applications for the area, set guidelines and bid in addition to the fee charged by Shropshire Council.

It has a say in the positioning of infrastructures such as cell towers and broadband cables.

There will also be potential involvement in plans for a Tenbury flood protection plan.

The council is also responsible for the maintenance of community buildings like the hall.

It has a say in longer-term plans such as plans for further residential construction.

There have been concerns about the impact of the proposed large-scale housing development at Burford on Tenbury, which falls under the jurisdiction of Shropshire Council. Many people in Burford use Tenbury facilities.
