Attachment: Worcestershire vs Warwickshire
Conference location: New Street, Worcester
Events: Sunday 11 July 2021 – Wednesday 14 July 2021
Start time: 11 clock
What are the facts?
Of the teams that qualify for the championship group, Warwickshire is perhaps the best ranked. As Durham and Notts battle it out in Chester-le-Street, Mark Robinson’s side faces a Worcestershire side whose fate is as good as certain.
Six points behind Notts and nine ahead of Durham, a win will secure them a place in the top two and could even be enough for the top spot.
Worcestershire have practically secured a place in the bottom division and with a nice win and a loss for champions Essex could have any chance of improving to fifth place.
Their only win in the campaign came at the end of May against bottom-out Derbyshire, who won with one innings and 23 runs on New Road.
Who’s in shape?
Jake Libby is the second highest run scorer in the championship with 776 runs at 64.66 and has hit three centuries and a trio of fifties in 14 innings.
Wickets were pretty evenly distributed across the team, with Dillon Pennington and Ed Barnard winning 15 each. Alzarri Joseph also took 15 of them during his stay on New Road.
Warwickshire’s campaign was led by Sam Hain’s 504 runs, but Rob Yates proved tenacious, scooping three digits three times.
Liam Norwell showed the way with 24 scalps in a bowling department decimated by injuries. Will Rhodes’ 19 wickets were also welcome.

Who says what?
Warwickshire captain Will Rhodes has urged his side to put their injury problems aside and qualify for the next stage.
Tim Bresnan, Danny Briggs, Henry Brookes, Olly Hannon-Dalby, Olly Stone, Chris Woakes and Dan Mousley are all absent for various reasons, blowing a hole in the team’s bowling attack at a crucial point in the season.
Rhodes said: “It’s going to be a tough game. We don’t have a couple of key people available and have to leave after last night which was very disappointing, but we know a place in Super September is at stake. Training Today “our heads are back to Red Ball Cricket and we will be ready for four days against the Pears.
“Hopefully we can make the race and play good cricket and if we can do that it will give us a lot of confidence next weekend to go into the two huge T20s. Last night was a setback of course, but this time next time.” At the weekend we could have qualified in two more competitions. “
