A SUMMER activity program that features water safety classes and free children’s lunches at Abbey Stadium was described as “Absolutely Awesome” by a Redditch mom.
As part of the Holiday Activity Food Worcestershire program, local youth who receive free school meals during the semester are invited to participate in an active two-week program that includes a freshly cooked lunch.
The program, which began on August 2nd and runs through August 13th, includes an hour of “Confidence to Swim” and “Born to Move” on land.
Marie King, whose two children Ethan and Kayla participated in the program, has seen her confidence grow.
“My daughter, who has never been in a pool, has become more confident and is absolutely thriving.
“My son no longer wears swimming goggles in the pool and splashes confidently.”
Thanks to the support of the HAF, the children receive a free healthy lunch and drink.
Council Chairman Matt Dormer said, “It is important that we offer recreational opportunities to all of our residents, and through this project we are able to do just that.”
