Pubs open camping and caravan sites for the summer – top 7 to bookmark

Entrepreneurial pubs have created a brand new “package holiday” of land, chilled drinks and homemade meals – by turning their beer gardens into pop-up campsites.

Faced with lost revenue from months of forced closings, a lifeline has been thrown from hostels across the UK allowing them to set up a temporary camp or glamp site for up to 56 days a year, thanks to a relaxation of “permitted development” rights.

With more than a third of landlords concerned for business survival following Covid restrictions, vacationers staying at their campsites could save hundreds of our rural pubs from doom.

Dan Yates, founder of pitup.com, said, “Pubs that offer camping and trailer parking are great choices for an outdoor vacation. It’s also a great way for tourists to secure the future of the precious village pub.”
