WE have a sweet story to tell this week because one of our Traders of the Week is a master at the fudge-making business.
Ruby’s Fudge, which is run by Ruby Williams from their cottage base in Cotheridge, has been making the confectionery for 11 years.
Ruby makes award-winning handcrafted fudge from their bespoke fudge kitchen – it’s a lot of homework!
She sells both wholesale to retail stores and online, and one of her proudest moments in store was when her traditional butter fudge and stick ginger fudge won a star at the 2012 Great Taste Awards.

Since then, she has won other Great Taste Awards in 2015, 2017 and 2020.
And it’s not just people who find their fudge particularly tasty: “I came back from a food fair to receive an online order from a customer who bought fudge at the food fair, only to find that her dog ate it on the way home would have . She was very excited!
“All of my fudges are handcrafted using traditional cooking and creaming techniques.
It is made from Gloucestershire farm butter and has a smooth and crumbly texture.

“I have many customers who order at least 2 kg a month to quench their addiction!
“I serve many stores across the county and beyond, with my largest store being Gloucester Services, which I’ve served since it opened.
“My new website launched last June and has helped me stay busy during the Covid pandemic.
“It was nice to see so much love in the world among the gift messages that come with orders.”
