A BACKING singer for The Enemy wrote a charity lockdown song.
Emma Skip put pen on paper and created her charity song Back to Before about what she saw and felt as a mother, woman and worker at YMCA Worcestershire during the pandemic.
Emma not only worked from home, but also saw that her summer performances for the Emma Skipp Band were canceled and the rehearsal room was empty.
With the help and encouragement of YMCA employee Mike Knowles and the production of the track and video by fellow musicians Peter Butler and producer Leon Payne, the song and video were released on social media in time for the one year anniversary of our first lockdown.
Former Solihull Observer sales rep said, “The video includes all of the band members taping their parts remotely, as well as an extensive collection of images of everyone involved depicting Lockdown in various ways.
“From friends and family on the front lines to working from home, giving birth to babies, timing, working from home and the isolation the pictures can bring out to show an extraordinary and normal year in our entire lives . “
It is the first original song Emma has written in over five years.
The Emma Skipp Band is a collection of 10 professional musicians who started out as writing bands in 2009 to secure their own status in the industry. Like so many others before them, they have successfully developed into a “covers band”. Cover songs for company parties, weddings and private parties.
