Summer with food festivals at Bromsgrove Rugby Club to save jobs

Bromsgrove Rugby Club has unveiled a summer of new food festivals to keep around 20 employees at work during the coronavirus pandemic.

Worcestershire Food and Drink and Digbeth Dining Club will both be at Finstall Park in July and August – and revelers who enjoy the gastro events will know they support local workplaces too.

This will be the first time the Worcestershire Food and Drink Festival has been held at the Rugby Club near Aston Fields when it brings out the best the region has to offer on Saturday August 28th over the bank holiday weekend.

The Bromsgrove Dining Club returns once a month during the school holidays on July 31st and August 21st with its mix of music and street food. As part of the club’s full calendar of events, there will also be a fun club event for children on August 28th.

Dan Ingram, Social Secretary at Bromsgrove Rugby Club, said: “We received a lot of support from the Rugby Football Union during Covid, but that doesn’t include keeping all of our employees ticking.

“We usually have a marquee over the summer to host three big events like the Summer Ball, the Beer Festival and the Sportsman’s Lunch, each of which brings the club around £ 30,000. Then there are weddings too, but we couldn’t do any.” of that this year and we had to adapt.

“By being proactive and speaking to food festivals, we’ve worked hard to fill the void and keep all of our staff – from those behind the bar to the coaching staff and ground staff, so we’re not adding the list of victims . “

The rugby club has suffered setbacks due to Covid, including the annual CAMRA Bromsgrove Beer and Cider Festival, which was canceled at the venue for the second year in a row.
