Attachment: Hampshire Hawks versus Sussex Sharks
Conference location: Ageas Bowl, Southampton
Date: Friday, July 16, 2021
Start time: 19 o’clock
What are the facts?
This is the second game of a double headed game for Hampshire on Friday that the Essex Eagles visit earlier in the day.
Sussex will try to secure their home advantage in the quarterfinals and get going thanks to a streak of four wins in five games with them.
They are in second place in this game and with league leaders Kent Spitfires having to name a second team due to Covid-19 isolation protocols against Middlesex, they hope to catch up with the division leaders by the end of the evening.
Even three wins from the last three games are unlikely to be enough to secure Hampshire a spot in the last eight. The Hawks only won one of their five games before Friday and abandoned three games in this year’s competition – no one has had more.
Who’s in shape?
Phil Salt averages 52 with the bat for Sussex Sharks in 2021, with three half centuries. Luke Wright is the other Sussex batsman to pass 200 runs for the competition, scoring a staggering 169 in the process.
Ravi Bopara and Delray Rawlins both played in their fast fifties in the Sharks’ recent win over the Essex Eagles last week.
Archie Lenham’s 10 wickets arrived at 15, giving the teen an exceptional introduction to the elite.
Ollie Robinson (2-18) and Chris Jordan (3-30) were both among the wickets against Essex.
What’s the team news?
A 12-person squad was named for the Hampshire Hawks’ games against the Essex Eagles, Sussex Sharks and Glamorgan
James Vince and Liam Dawson return to England and isolation.
Hampshire Hawks squads: James Vince, Lewis McManus, Scott Currie, D’Arcy Short, Liam Dawson, Joe Weatherley, James Fuller, Brad Wheal, Colin de Grandhomme, Tom Perst, Chris Wood, Mason Crane
Rashid Khan will make his first appearances of the season for Sussex after clearing hotel quarantine.
Rashid is part of a 15-strong squad for away matches against Hampshire and Kent. Phil Salt is included in England upon returning from service. Tymal Mills is unavailable because of a hamstring injury; George Garton is in self-isolation.
Sussex Sharks roster: Luke Wright, Will Beer, Ravi Bopara, Oli Carter, Mitch Claydon, Henry Crocombe, Travis Head, Rashid Khan, Archie Lenham, Ali Orr, Delray Rawlins, Ollie Robinson, Phil Salt, Harrison Ward, David Wiese
