The best Bloody Marys in Dallas

For many, 2021 may have felt like a never-ending hangover. Now that we’re finally starting a new year, it’s time to kiss that cat goodbye and celebrate National Bloody Mary Day on January 1st.

The origins of this drink have never been confirmed, but it is said to have made its debut in Paris at Harry’s New York Bar or Hemingway Bar 100 years ago. Many twists and turns of this classic vodka and tomato juice drink have surfaced over the years, including a bloody pirate trading rum for vodka. A bloody Maria uses tequila instead of vodka; a maria verde has gin and tomatillo sauce instead of vodka and tomato juice. And the bloody Caesar is a Canadian classic that uses clamato juice (a mixture of clam and tomato juice) with vodka.

We’ve put together a list of great places where you can get both the classic Bloody Mary and variations that will make you want to go all night just so you can partake.

Armory DE
2714 Elm St. (Deep Ellum)
Armory DE’s Sunday Funday Bloody Cthulhu ($ 14) is probably one of the most unusual Bloody Marys in Dallas. The homemade mix is mixed with gin and topped with charred squid tentacles and served with a high life pony. Your cat will thank you.
