BOXING – Teenage fighter Jaya shows promise in dominant win

YOUNG Cleary’s Boxing Gym fighter Jaya Kalsi claimed another eye-catching victory with a dominant win at the Boxing Clever Academy show in Nuneaton.

Jaya, aged 13, showed her class to beat previously unbeaten opponent Summer Evans who fights at a prizefighter gym in Wales.

The teenager continues to make great strides in her fledgling career having fought for Team England at the European Schools Boxing Championships in Turkey back in September.

And Cleary’s Gym are hosting a night of boxing later this month at Trident College in Warwick on Saturday, December 17.

Several Cleary’s fighters will feature on the card, competing against boxers from around the United Kingdom, including: Jaya, champion boxer Aman Kumar and Midlands champion Reni Bulyka.

Another of Cleary’s fighters, Danny Quartermaine, along with trainer Edwin Cleary and Aman Kumar were invited down to Sugar Ray Leonard’s residence in Los Angeles.

Quartermaine is set to take part in his seventh professional fight on Friday, December 16 at the Sports Connexion Leisure Club and Venue in Ryton-on-Dunsmore.
