The number of visits to Worcestershire A&E hospitals is increasing

MORE patients visited A&E at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust last month, with demand rising above the level seen in March last year.

NHS England figures show 13,928 patients attended A&E at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in March.

This represents an increase of 36 percent from the 10,248 visits recorded in February and 10 percent more than the 12,642 patients observed in March last year.

The majority of visits last month were through large A&E departments – those with full resuscitation equipment and 24-hour consultant care – while 22 percent were units with minor injuries.

Across England, A&E departments received 1.7 million visits last month, up 32 percent from February and 10 percent more than the 1.5 million in March 2020.

Worcestershire had 603 booked appointments in March 2021, up from 386 in February. 81 percent of arrivals were seen within four hours, up from an NHS target of 95 percent.
