Winners revealed for Solihull town center business awards

BUSINESS and employees in Solihull were given their moment in the spotlight at the annual Solihull BID Excellence Awards.

More than 300 people attended the red-carpet ceremony on Friday, November 18, at the voco St John’s Hotel in Solihull.

Sponsored by Phoebus Software, Touchwood, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and Solihull College & University Centre, the awards celebrate Solihull town center business community.

This year’s awards featured seven categories: Hospitality & Leisure Venue of the Year, Best Independent Business, Best Customer Service, The John Callaghan Award – Young Person of the Year, Outstanding Team of 2022, Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Project and Outstanding Contribution to the Town Centre.

The judges for this year’s Excellence Awards were Eileen Schofield, Principal of Schofield & Associates, Paul Brown, Director, Government & Public Sector at EY, Mark Rogers, Chief Executive at Leadership Centre, Oli Hills, CEO of Nonsensical and Alethea Fuller, Deputy Chief Executive, West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner.

Melanie Palmer, Chief Executive of Solihull BID, said: “It was great to be back again with the BID Excellence Awards, seeing so many people enjoying themselves and celebrating the deserved winners.”

Holland & Barrett at Touchwood were the big winners on the night, taking home two awards. They won the Best Customer Service category and were then named the overall Outstanding Solihull Business of 2022.

Other winners included Japanese restaurant KIBOU, Solihull Summer Fest, the Commonwealth Games Delivery Team at Solihull Council and Phoebus Software.

Maddison Hupfield of KIBOU was named the Young Person of the Year and Kevin Hill, who devoted 36 years of his life working as a Street Cleansing operative in Solihull, was honored for his Outstanding Contribution to the Town Centre.

  • Winner: Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (Commonwealth Games Delivery Team) Highly Commended: Touchwood (Car Park Team)

Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Project

  • Winner: Phoebus Software Highly Commended: John Lewis & Partners

Outstanding Contribution to the Town Centre

Outstanding Solihull Business of 2022

  • Winner: Holland & Barrett.
